How To Get What You Want From DSL Internet Service ProvidersHow many companies do you think there are offering DSL Internet connections in the USA, UK, or even the world? In recent years this has become huge business and thousands upon thousands of companies are competing for your money. For the consumer, this can only be a good thing. As long as quality of service does not suffer then more competition means cheaper DSL Internet Service Providers. I used to pay $30 per month for my 56kbps connection. I now pay $15 per month for a 2.5mbps connection. So it's easy to see that the cost of inflation doesn't affect everything. DSL Internet Service Providers are finding more and more interesting, clever, and sometimes downright devious ways to get you on board and sometimes you have to take a step back and think before signing up to that wonder deal that won't be offered anywhere else and is only available for a limited time, yeah, we've all heard that before. Sales people are very clever. They will convince you that if you don't buy there and then you will be losing out and never have the chance again to cash in on this amazing opportunity. It's not until some time later that you realise their offer was not very different to many others, but you still convince yourself it was great to prevent yourself feeling stupid. This doesn't just relate to DSL Internet Service Providers, The same can be said for computer sales, insurance, cars, and just about any other sales environment. The key to conquering the salesman is to go in with your mind prepared. These people are very good at dodging tricky questions but don't let that put you off. Before you talk to the sales department make sure you are in a good strong frame of mind and have prepared the exact questions you want answered. If your answer isn't good enough, ask again and request that the salesman / saleswoman be more specific. Remember, you're the one in control. They want your money. By signing up with DSL Internet Service Providers you are doing them a favor, not the other way round. In short, make sure they can prove that they deserve your money. You worked for it and their going to have to work hard to get it. The trickiest one is bundled deals. DSL Internet Service Providers are often now also your telephone services provider and your Cable TV provider. Its no good charging $10 for your DSL connection if your call costs end up twice as much as they used to be. These packages can be good and I have one myself, but make sure that is cheaper over all and the cost not just disguised with clever tactics. |
